Capping it off ...

I didn't understand why someone could not just swing the fireplace cap onto their shoulder and walk it up to the top of the roof, but I was overruled and we brought in a crane.

With the wind blowing and the cap swaying, Two Brothers stays clear as they direct the crane operator. Smart move!

Once it's close they move in and direct it by hand.

Then they gently put it into place.

Finally, resting it on top.

  1. This was one of the most exciting parts of our house building nightmare...I mean dream :-). The cap weighed between 500-600 lbs and was 6 ft long (2" past chimney). Most of the busy contractors stopped work to watch - not sure if it was because they were afraid of being clocked in the head ...or was it the spectacle or..Dunkin Donuts and coffee just delivered...maybe alittle bit of all of this.
